Join our team! Newton Community Pride is currently hiring for the following positions:
Bookkeeper (part-time, in office, 4-6 hours/week )
Responsibilities include
- Maintaining records according to generally accepted accounting principles including the recording of general journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, and reconciliation of bank statements;
- Applying strong accounting skills including A/P, A/R, purchasing backup, journal entries, track and record investment activity, and all bookkeeping through financial statement preparation;
- Producing reports, upon request, for the Executive Director, Treasurer, and Board of Directors;
- Budget preparation and forecasting;
- Reconciling and maintaining records related to restricted expenditures;
- Managing fiscal sponsorships;
- Preparing for and participating in the annual financial review;
- Attending to duties, as assigned, on a set schedule in our office at 1294 Centre Street Newton, MA. 02459. (Potential for some remote work after completion of training.)
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting preferred, or a Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting; CPA a plus;
- Three or more years of bookkeeping experience with excellent practices and procedures;
- Attention to detail with an exceptional level of accuracy and a track record of reliability, confidentiality and conscientious work habits;
- Experience in accounting in QuickBooks;
- Experience managing financial reviews and the review process;
- Ability to produce timely reports and present to Treasurer and the Board of Directors;
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision;
- Knowledge of current federal/state law relating to nonprofit bookkeeping standards and best practices
