Newton Theatre Company presents Moliere’s “The Bourgeois Gentleman” a hilarious comedy with an updated disco-themed twist! The play intermingles music, dance and song as Mr. Jourdain tries to be the coolest cat in town while at the same time preventing his daughter from marrying the man she loves. Mr. Jourdain’s ridiculous antics in an effort to be hip provide much mirth on and off stage!

Evening of Russian and Jewish Music

Founded in St. Petersburg, Russia by its artistic director, pianist Yelena Neplok, the Nigun Chamber Ensemble was the first ensemble of top musicians in St. Petersburg devoted to the performance of Jewish folk and art music. Even during Perestroika it was considered daring to perform Jewish music that had been suppressed for so long under the Soviet regime. Nigun is devoted to the preservation of a unique musical heritage stemming from Jewish and Russian composers and their communities in pre-war Eastern Europe. It is a member of the New England Foundation of the Arts New England States Touring Roster and has released an album “The Art of Jewish Music” recorded in Jordan Hall.
